Peter,
Thanks for your comment. I actually received a return phone call the other day a full 2 weeks after I left the message. When I asked why it took 2 weeks, his response was, "understaffed and overworked...not an excuse just an explanation". Good to hear there are professionals who still care! Thanks, Jim

If I treated my customers like that, I would not be blogging, as I would be out of business.
When I return a phone call, the most common response is "Thank you for returning my call".

Theresa, "Stressing the interview process" is an excellent suggestion but how do we (the professionals) educate the consumer about the process when some of our peers won't even meet them?

Hello Jim, My lack of surprise was not meant as a reflection on this industry alone. It was aimed at service in general. You asked how I think we can combat this issue. The continuing education may help to a degree though I don't know if we can ever weed out all the bad apples. This is why I stress the interview process when selecting your Realtor just as you should when choosing the right doctor, contractor etc.

A few years ago I worked for another company (you know which one). It was 5PMa there was 6a agents in the office. I was leaving and the phone rang. I watched everyone ignore the call. I answered it showed a house, brought the buyers back to the office, wrote an offer all while the agents talked. They never know what happened.

Morning Jim,
I am hoping the new requirements for continuing education will weed out these unprofessional agents. To be have professionalism in business is to serve all potential clients with the same level of service regardless of the amount of commission made, Period.

Michael, My father used to say, "every call is a call for help". You and I both know; the quickest way to get what you want is to HELP someone else get what they want. There are NO short cuts in business and/or life. Unfortunately, the reputation of an entire industry can be tarnished by the selfish actions of just a few. We need to change that! Thank you for reading and commenting.
